Great news everyone!

I’ve been speaking with the Rec & Park Department, and they have given us permission to continue having Lindy in the Park. We will be able to resume Lindy in the Park this Sunday, July 5, at our regular time (11:00am-2:00pm) and location (south sidewalk area of JFK Drive, between 8th and 10th Ave).

So there’s no need to write any more letters, collect signatures, or march on City Hall. Just show up Sunday at Lindy in the Park and have a great time!

Hi Everyone,

As you may already know, Lindy in the Park was shut down early today (Sunday, June 28, 2009) by the park police due to the lack of a sound permit.   This was a bit of a surprise, considering we have been putting on this free public swing dance in Golden Gate Park for almost 13 years and have never been required to obtain a permit before.

In any case, we will be working on getting the necessary permission to continue running Lindy in the Park.  At this tme, we don’t know how soon we will be able to resume having Lindy in the Park, but we’re hoping to be back next Sunday (July 5, 2009).  Please check back here at this website for the latest status on this situation.

Lindy in the Square is back!

The Lindy in the Park crew is happy to announce that we will be hosting the first of six “Lindy in the Square” swing dancing events planned for 2009. Similar to “Lindy in the Park”, Lindy in the Square is a free outdoor swing dance that includes a free beginner swing dance lesson by Hep Jen & Ken, and free DJ’ed music by Ken & Naomi.

Come join us at Union Square from 6:00-8:00 PM, dance outside in the fresh air, show off to admiring crowds, perform the Lindy in the Park routine, and see a special dance performance by the CCSF swing dancers.

And invite all your friends to hook them on swing dancing too!

P.S. Lindy in the Square happens on the 4th Wednesday of the month, May-September 2009, and is hosted by a different group each month. It is brought to you by The SF Lindy Squad, and sponsored by Jewels in the Square.

Due to the Bay to Breakers run, we have decided to cancel Lindy in the Park on Sunday, May 17, 2009.

But Lindy in the Park will return the following Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 24, at its usual time and location (weather permitting, of course) and resume its normal weekly schedule.

Sorry folks,

Lindy in the Park is cancelled today (May 3, 2009) due to rain.  It’s been misting outside most of the morning, and the forecasts aren’t encouraging either.  Hopefully next Sunday will be dry.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and we hope see you next week.
